BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

This is the sign at the entrance of the Men’s lockers in my new 24 Hours Gym  Club. I wonder what the Women have. I will go check.

Here are two “magic” words: The BELEIF and the ONESELF.
It seems to me that the belief has always existed. No matter which civilization, which culture, it has been there since the beginning of the world.
Why so?
Because Man is weak and needs a support.
It ended up that so many beliefs created as many religions. And each holder sticks to his own, trying sometimes to convince the other to join and adopt his own.

As for Oneself, here is one thing we all will agree to: The tendency is that often we forget about the individual. And who is it? You? Me?
We often seem more concerned about others than ourselves.
This may sound good, showing our concern, our affection, our sympathy to the neighbor. But at time, it is the opposite. Life is a competition and we have to be better, stronger than him or her for there is only one steak to eat and it better be me the winner of it.

No wonder the logo BELIEVE IN YOURSELF is so powerful!
It shows maturity, leadership, a strong opinion, a desire to win and be the best. Nothing wrong with that, except if we over do it.
And I think this is where the Woman has the advantage. Usually, she is not as competitive, she doesn’t need to be the Boss, she knows better. She is most probably smarter.

I am tempted to amass as many wise words as possible, referring to “our two words” to add strength and power to them, to rationalize what I am talking about. Should I do it?

Here is an easy one that someone said before me: “Believe in  your ability to be successful in the things you have a passion for”. Passion! Another amazing word. Yes, we must have passion, it is what will propel us more than anything else. Without passion life would be dull.

Here is another one: Anything that you believe you can do strong enough . You can do anything as long as you believe . Nobody can impose your beliefs on you. It’s always you who in the last instance can permit a belief to be true for you or not.I am sure that Belief is a part of Success! And someone suggested that we should apply the ABC of success to our life: Ask, Believe and Claim.

Paulo Coelho, the  famous Brazilian author said very simply:  You are what you believe yourself to be.
Was it Socrates, Thales or Juvenal who came up with KNOW YOURSELF?
Irrelevant when we understand the value we have as people, with intelligence to conduct ourselves rightfully.
Maybe it was Aeschilus who used know thyself in one of his plays when
The demi-god Oceanus comes to Prometheus to reason with him, and cautions him that he should "know thyself".[15] In this context, Oceanus is telling Prometheus that he should know better than to speak ill of the one who decides his fate and accordingly, perhaps he should better know his place in the "great order of things".

Maybe to recap above, we should include Aristotle who said; knowing yourself is the Beginning of all wisdom. So much to learn from Greek Mythology.

Closer to home, let’s hear what Walt Disney had to say: When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably. Yet we need to be remembered that we are braver than we believe, stronger than we seem and smarter than we think.
I like this attitude

I did look around the club and discovered more interesting, what I came ´wise words’ they are :CONQUER YOUR GOALS
                            FIND YOUR INSPIRATION
                            GIVE IT YOUR ALL
                             MAKE A DIFFERENCE

I am tempted to write something about each one, like I did for  BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

Before closing I wish to add that the only thing that stands between you and what you want from life is often merely the will to try along with the faith to believe that it is possible.
